Who is affected?
You may be affected if:
• Your home relies on electricity for heating or hot water and there’s no gas supply in your area.
• There is a separate switch box near your meter labelled "Radio Teleswitch."
• You benefit from cheaper electricity rates at night or specific times of day, such as on tariffs like Economy 7 or Economy 10.
If you have a single-rate meter or a newer type of multi-rate meter, this change won’t affect you.
What do I need to do?
If you have an RTS meter, your energy supplier will contact you to arrange a replacement before the shutdown. To avoid any issues with your heating or hot water:
• Check your meter: Look for a "Radio Teleswitch" label near your meter. If you're unsure, contact your energy supplier to confirm.
• Act quickly: Make sure your meter is replaced before 30 June 2025. Without a replacement, your heating and hot water could stop working properly, and your electricity bills may increase.
What happens if I don’t change my meter?
If your RTS meter isn’t replaced, you could face issues such as:
• Your heating or hot water may turn on or off at the wrong times.
• You may have higher electricity bills due to inaccurate usage tracking.
When is the RTS shutdown?
The RTS service will be shut down on 30th June 2025, and this date will not be extended. Please ensure your meter is replaced before this date to prevent any disruptions.
